Nazca

Just saw the infamous Nazca lines. Quite interesting. Of course, the prevailing theory as to their creation is that aliens drew them!

Paracas

What a beautiful place! You would never expect to find sea lions, penguins, lines that we still don't know who drew in a desert. Great day with the family. Got to find some way to upload some pictures!

Full Day

Left Lima this morning at 7:30 a.m.and arrived in Ica around 1:00 p.m., checked in at our hotel, went to a very old winery, Huacachina and then back to downtown Ica. Heading out tomorrow morning at 5:30 a.m. for Paracas.

Ica

Well, we are finally on the bus waiting to go on our family trip to Ica. It's going to be a busy weekend with plenty of things to do with the family, i.e. sand boarding, dune buggies, island tours, etc... Oh yes, we are looking forward to this!

A Touch of Humility

I Peter 5:5-6 Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."  (6)  Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

In the House at Bonn occupied by Beethoven there still is preserved the piano upon which the great master played, and which he used in the composition of his great music. Years ago, an American girl visited the shrine. She waltzed airily to the instrument and began playing a careless tune; and then, turning to the custodian, said, "I suppose you have many visitors here every year?" "A great many," was the reply. "Many famous people, no doubt?" said she. "Yes, Paderewski came recently." "I suppose, of course, he played on the piano?" said the girl, her fingers still thrumming the keys. "No," said the custodian, "he did not consider himself worthy."

This is the reverence of the great in soul. The flippant enter the hallowed places, the sanctuaries of the world, with light laughter and careless jest; they feel nothing in their shallow souls, and reduce everything to the flippant and commonplace; but the high-souled enter with bared heads, they take the shoes off their feet, they stand awed and in silence. "They do not consider themselves worthy."

The Painful Trial

1 Peter 4:12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you.

As incense, when it is put into the fire, gives greater aroma; or as spice, when it is pounded and beaten, smells sweeter; as the earth, when it is torn up with the plow, becomes more fertile; the seed in the ground, after frost and snow and winter storms, blossoms into new life, the closer the vine is pruned to the stalk, the greater grapes it yields; the grape, when it is most pressed and beaten, makes the sweetest wine; and linen, when it is washed and wrung and beaten, is made so fairer and whiter: even so the children of God receive great benefit by persecution; for by it God washes and scours and educates and nurtures them, so that through many tribulations they may enter into their rest.

The Freedom of Choice

“A man's worst difficulties begin when he is able to do as he pleases.”

Amen!

Just what does the word "Amen" mean anyway? Literally, it means “so be it.” Its also been said that it expresses four things: 1. the desire of the heart, 2. the affirmation of our faith, 3. the joy of our heart, and 4. the declaration of resolution. Amen!

More About Jesus

“More about Jesus would I know, More of His grace to others show; More of His saving fullness see, More of His love Who died for me."

Spearman Family

Jannett, Brandon and myself have all been sick this past week. However, it looks like we're all slowly on the mend. Unfortunately, Dane didn't look too good this morning. I wonder where he got it? :/
