Coming from a pretty left-leaning institution, this study is pretty interesting. Hopefully, the Democrats will take it into consideration when it comes time to vote on "same-sex" marriage? Doubt it. Besides, who wants to be distracted by facts when you have an agenda.

Bill Gate's Eleven Rules for Life

Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it! 

Rule 2 : The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: They called it opportunity.

Rule 6 : If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were: So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room..

Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one!

Spiritual Warfare, Part 1

I just posted the first of a two part message on Spiritual Warfare that I taught for our staff this morning on my Sermon Player. Notes are included. 

Healthy Churches

I can honestly say, based on all the churches that I've had the honor of visiting with and preaching in, that the healthiest ones have at least two to three services a week.

I can also say that the healthiest Christians I've met, attend all those services.

I'm sorry folks, but 1.5 hours of corporate worship each week is not enough. That is exactly why the church in America is so anemic (lacking vitality, listless and weak).

If you're not going to a church that offers you that, my counsel to you is that you find one that does. I know that's a pretty tall order in the day in which we live, but they are out there. Don't settle!

Almost There

Sometimes I believe that in our world of "tolerance", we've forgotten what happens to those who have not been born again. There is no such thing as the “middle” when it comes to salvation. The Bible clearly and emphatically states that either God is your father or Satan is your father. Either you are in a relationship with Christ, or you’re not; either you are born again, or you’re not. You are either God’s child, or you are God’s enemy; you are either storing up wrath, or you are storing up mercy; you are either heaven-bound, or you are hell-bound. No one is in the middle. No one is “almost there.”

Alter Your Course!

Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverted mouth, I hate.

The captain of the ship looked into the dark night and saw faint lights in the distance. Immediately he told his signalman to send a message" "Alter your course 10 degrees south."
