Visited a church this morning and sat down beside of what appeared to be
a lower middle school group of girls. Practically all of them had a
Starbucks in one hand, an iPhone in the other, with their feet up on the
chairs in front of them. We finally had to move to other seats because
they would not stop climbing over us running in and out of the sanctuary.
On
an interesting note, I just read this of the childhood of Jonathan
Edwards (1703-1758), "Puritan boys were very like other boys, and their
wickedness was a continual trouble to theologians of the day who used
them as examples of total depravity and unconverted
man.” The author went on to say that "their wickedness during the
meetings was particularly distressing as that they all sat in the back
without their parents ogling the girls and carving the woodwork." Well, I
guess that not much has changed after all!
